How Can I Tell If I Am Depressed?

In the seasons of life, moods can go down and up, and down some more. But what makes sadness different from depression?

Depression is a longer lasting, more intense, and more dysfunctional experience than just having a down day, or feeling low for a bit, such as after a setback. Other symptoms to watch out for are: low motivation, energy, concentration, difficulty enjoying things, social isolation, worsening irritability or anger, and/or hopelessness or suicidal thoughts.

What To Do If You Think You’re Depressed?

If your symptoms have persisted for more than 2 weeks, or you’re feeling unsafe in any way, you should definitely ask for help, and see your psychiatrist, primary care doctor, therapist, or other clinician you trust.

Rule Out Depression
